WOMEX – the World Music Expo – is a huge international music meeting and conference of the global music scene, featuring a trade fair, talks, films and a showcase festival. Over 2,700 professionals (including 300 performing artists) come together every October from more than 90 countries, making WOMEX not only the number one networking platform for the world music industry, but also the most diverse music meeting worldwide.
In October 2018, WOMEX was held in the Canary Islands. Tanya McAlpine and Paulo Almeida from SONA Productions attended, and will be guest presenters in today's Global Village. They will talk about highlights of the Festival, as well as playing examples of artists whose showcases impressed them.
Tanya and Paulo will also talk about the Maubere Timor album, released late last year in Timor Leste, and play some examples from this historic release.
