Small Island Big Song is an independent music and film project uniting first nation artists across the island nations of Pacific and Indian oceans through song, story and homeland. It was three years in the making, with cinematic footage and multi-tracked music from 16 countries. Over 100 first nation musicians were recorded and filmed in nature, to weave into 18 collaborative songs. The project sought out culturally respected and profiled artists and invited them to contribute a song that represented their heritage, sung in language, using traditional instruments and recorded on their homeland in nature.
Tim Cole and BaoBao Chen will come into the Global Village to talk about the project, and play examples from the resulting album.
